Blind Contour Drawing
Blind contour drawing means using your eyes to follow the contour of the subject with continuous, unbroken attention, so that the drawing tool carefully records the information that your eyes receive. You can think of this as the drawing tool recording on paper the precise shape that the eye sees. Working this way, you do not look at the paper until the drawing is complete. This approach requires patience and concentration. What is important in blind contour drawing is not the finished drawing itself, but the experience of looking carefully and deliberately at a subject. This is an excellent way to slow down and develop a deeper level of exploring shape and form, and strengthen your hand eye coordination skills
This technique is practiced for hours on end by art students to improve their observation and drawing skills.

Copy the Masters
Drawing is a way of seeing. The more you practice drawing skills the more you will see. Copying other artists, especially the Masters, is on technique of learning to see and draw that has been practiced for centuries.
Step 1: Find an artist who draws in a style you like.
Step 2: Tone your background to a pastel natural color.
Step 3: Copy the master. Try to replicate the style of line. Are the lines thick, thin or varied? Are the lines done in pencil, ink or paint? Your goal is to learn from the artist by really seeing every aspect of their style and imitating it.
