INTRODUCTION
All of these paintings have one thing in common. Each artist painted their interpretation of how music looks if you could see it. Shapes, colors and lines represent rhythms, patterns, notes, structure and tones of music.
ASSIGNMENT
You will create a pastel colored drawing inspired by a song.
Step 1: Choose a song to use as inspiration for your drawing. It can be from any genre from classical to rap.
Step 2: Listen to the song with your eyes closed. What colors and shapes appear in your mind?
Step 3: Get your sketch book. Listen to the song again and sketch out what you see in your mind with a pencil.
Step 4: Move onto a full colored drawing.

- Get large piece of white drawing paper and pastels. The box of Pastels is located on the side counter of the room. Get a piece of newspaper, located next to the recycling bin. Place the newspaper under your drawing to avoid getting pastel on the desks.
- You can transfer the sketch from your notebook onto the large white paper or make a new drawing as you listen to your song. Fill the entire paper with rich pastel colors. You can use pencils and markers to add detail, too.
