Painting Apples
In this lesson you will use the skills you learned in the value painting exercises to paint a still life of apples using Photoshop software and a wacom tablet. The classical definition of a still life is a work of art depicting inanimate, typically commonplace objects that are either natural (food, flowers or game) or man-made (glasses, books, vases and other collectibles).
Your objective is to paint a still life of an apple or apples in your own style of painting. The apple needs to have 5 or more different values of color to demonstrate form (a three dimensional object). In other words, the apple must look round. The apple must also be placed within a space - on a table in a room. The apple can not just be floating in empty space.
INSTRUCTIONS: Find a still life of an apple or apples to use as a reference photo. YOU MUST HAVE A REFERENCE PHOTO so you can observe the different values of an actual apple.
Rubric
Demonstrate:-at least 5 different values of color (dark shadow on table, darkest side of apple, mid-range value of apple, light side of apple, highlight on apple).
-the apple appears three dimensional
-the apple is on a surface/table
-there is a wall behind the apple
